The locomotive nr. 5
[index] [eloc #3] [eloc #4] [motor description] [map]
The construction plate was drawn based on a similar nameplate (owner Lintner Béla)
The locomotive was built at the Weitzer János engine, wagon and iron-foundry factory in Arad in 1906. It's very possible that the electric parts were from Siemens. I've got a delivery list of Siemens locomotives. On this list appears two locomotives for Grosswardein (Nagyvárad). On this list appears the L.A.G. 1 and the Bingen loco too. (See loco nr. 3) (Source Jens Merte).

[See the pictures about the suspensions taken in 2003]
On the roof on the front part it has a bell.
The description of the motor:
All the loc. nr 3, the loc. nr 4. and the nr. 5 had the same type of motors. See the motor description
The weight of the loc nr. 4 is 19 T and of the loc nr. 5 is 20 T (dates after 1978).
The position of the front and the back windows are higher on the loc nr. 4 then on the loc nr. 5.
The boxes of the speed regulating resistance were changed more times on both locomotives.
In the late 70's the number 2 of the locomotive was changed into number 5. In the cab it can be find a plate with the old number.
In the 60's the the rheostats on the roof had cylinder shape like on the nr. 4. In the 70's and early 80's these were changed two times with boxes taken from old trams.
The lamps were changed in the early 80's too. On the top has remained only one lamp on each side.
The buffers were changed into larger wagon buffers only on the loc. nr. 3 has remained the original.
The original wheels had spoke. After the broking of the axle on the front side in 1984 the wheels were changed into wagon wheels.
The loc was bought in 1906 with the loc nr. 4. The original number of the locomotive was nr. 2.
After the shortening of the line from '78 the loc nr. 5 became the most used locomotive and the other two were used only to help the loc nr. 5 or when this was broken down. The loc nr. 5 was the most powerful among them. In 1984 the one of the axles broke and the wheels and the axle was changed into wagon wheels. From 1985 the loc broke down more and more times and the loc nr. 4 became the mainly used locomotive. In the early '90s the loc was rarely used and it was more times under repair. In 1994 the line was winded up and the locomotive was taken to the backyard of the new depot.
