Manufacturer:

I didn't find any name plate on the locomotive, but the shape is nearly the same with the loco nr. 5. It's very possible, that it was built at Weitzer János engine and wagon factory in Arad in 1906. The electric parts were from Siemens. I've got a delivery list of Siemens locomotives. On this list appears two locomotives for Grosswardein (Nagyvárad). On this list appears the L.A.G. 1 and the Bingen loco too. (See eloc nr. 3)

Characteristics:

Weight 19 T
Power 45 H. P. (?)
Number of motors 2
Number of pantographs 2
Number of axles 2
Voltage 600 V

The rheostat switch.

A switch in the cab of the eloc nr. 4 between the roof and the front windows.

[See the pictures from 2003]

On the roof on the front part it has a bell.

The description of the motor is at the loc. nr. 5. (See the description).

On the view from above appears the pantographs and the boxes of the speed regulating resistance.

Differences between the loc. nr 4 and nr. 5:

The weight of the loc nr. 4 is 19 T and of the loc nr. 5 is 20 T (dates after 1978).

The position of the front and the back windows are higher on the loc nr. 4 then on the loc nr. 5.

The boxes of the speed regulating resistance were changed more times on both locomotives.

Changes on the loc nr 4:

In the late 70's the number 1 of the locomotive was changed into number 4.

In the 60's, 70's the the speed regulating boxes had cylinder shape. In 1986 these were changed with boxes taken from old trams.

The lamps were changed in the early 80's too. On the top has remained only one lamp on each side.

The buffers were changed into larger wagon buffers only on the loc. nr. 3 has remained the original.

The original wheels had spoke. After the broking of the axles the wheels were changed into wagon wheels. First it has changed on the right side in the 80's and on the left side in 1991.

Some of the changes can be observe on the pictures from 1978:

and from 1986 taken from same position:

Short history:

The loc was bought in 1906 with the loc nr. 5. The original numbering of the locomotive was nr. 1.

After the shortening of the line in the 80's the most used loc was the nr. 5 and the loc nr. 3 and nr. 4 were used only to help the nr. 5 or when the nr. 5 was broken down. From the middle of the 80's the loc nr. 5 broke down more and more and the nr. 4 was used oftener. In 1986 the nr. 4 was repainted and the speed regulating resistance was changed too. After this the nr. 4 became the main locomotive. In 1991 the axle of the loc has broken and the wheels on this side and the axle were changed into wagon wheels.

Before 1994 the loc nr. 4 was used in pair with the nr. 3 on the line between the vinegar factory and the "Velence" railway station. In 1994 the line was winded up and the locomotive was taken to the backyard of the new depot.
